My love of Canary wood knows no bounds.  This base was custom designed with and expertly crafted by Mr. Bobby Williams, Williams Family Mill.  This original was given an added dimension from an increased base height which highlights the wood's distinctive colored grain. 
Tucked in the studio as the Northeast was buffeted by Hurricane Ida, I wove a twill pattern with five graduated widths of variegated cane, a scalloped motif and a floral border near the rim as I discovered my own flowers were...wait for it...gone, gone with the wind.  The rim features a wrapped bumper guard and an integrated knot stitch.  Finished with light shellac.  
Canary wood from South America is known for its multi-colored grain and cream stripe running down the outside of the tree. It is strikingly beautiful and a pleasure to work.
