One of the best things about living on a farm is the thrill of the hunt...known to less imaginative souls as cutting and clearing brush. Bittersweet vine is one of those thrills for me, and endless inspiration. And to find a piece of Bittersweet entwined with Honeysuckle?! I knew it would make an incredible original. I wove with five graduated widths of cane on a Red Oak base, the finest round reed and added an openwork floral motif to mimic the curves in the vine. The cane rim is lashed with a double blanket stitch for a final flourish. I highlighted the floral motif with a satin finish, the remainder is matte shellac.
