After being presented with a double slotted Birch base and given a challenge to create something unique,  I designed a piece much different than a double-walled basket, its typical use.  Black Tie is my open, airy original with four graduated widths of cane and black cane and round reed accents.  The exterior base is black lacquer and finished with a light shellac.  Black Tie can be displayed flat or angled on a stand to great advantage.
