I stepped outside the norm - per usual - with this original creation on a rectangular Red Oak base.  Woven with three graduated widths of cane in a chevron and floral motif, I  finished the rim with a bumper of woven leather, secured with whip and split stitches.  The leather knot adds a final flourish to this functional and decorative piece.  Finished with shellac.
